The safety, security, health and well-being of our students, teachers, and staff members is a top priority of Reading Friends of Aledo. As a result of this ongoing commitment, our school implements annual training based on recommendations and guidance of The Fort Worth Police Department’s Emergency Preparedness/Incident Command Unit (EPIC). Through the onsite training received from EPIC, Reading Friends of Aledo is able to provide a safe and secure environment for the children to learn and grow.
Our emergency training that each staff member and teacher receives allows everyone to understand what to do in an emergency situation. In addition to the information provided to parents in their Parent Handbook, we have also implemented an emergency text system, which notifies families immediately should unsafe conditions arise.
On a daily basis, our standard security measures are unsurpassed. All doors are kept locked and entry is only allowed to the families of our students and individuals who are approved to enter. All teachers and staff undergo FBI background checks and fingerprinting. No student will be released to any unauthorized individual at any time without advance notice and proper identification.
To keep our students and staff healthy during the Covid-19 global pandemic, Reading Friends of Aledo has implemented policies and protocols that exceed the requirements for standards established by the CDC, the DFPS, and local and State authorities. Reading Friends of Aledo’s team of staff and teachers wear masks while they are at school. All team members and students have their temperature taken upon arrival and answer health-related questions to determine if they are at risk for the Coronavirus. Additionally, the school has taken extra preventive measures by purchasing commercial-grade air purification systems for each classroom in the school, including the shared areas. This air purification system has a 4-Stage filtration system (pre-filter, deodorization filter, true HEPA filter, and vital Ion) which captures and reduces up to 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns in the air, including pollen, pollutants and other allergens, while also reducing volatile organic compounds and reducing odor.
During an active pandemic, visitors are required to schedule an appointment to enter the building. All individuals entering must pass the temperature check before entry.
To reduce the risk of spreading germs, Reading Friends of Aledo provides each student with his/her own personalized box of school supplies that he/she takes with them from class to class. No more sharing of crayons, markers, scissors, and paint brushes!
Reading Friends of Aledo has reduced class sizes for the upcoming school year so that students can spread out and teachers can more easily manage sanitation procedures.
We look forward to a healthy and successful school year!
