Elementary school preparedness is not just about a child recognizing shapes, reciting the alphabet, and/or recognizing the days of the week.
Ours is a culture and an educational climate in which increased emphasis is put on preschool and Kindergarten development and overall school readiness. Parents and schools are expecting more of children because research in the past decade has shown young children are capable of more than previously thought. Most skills cannot wait until kindergarten to be learned.
Educators realize you can instill in the young child his or her perception of success and a love for learning. Reading Friends of Aledo is dedicated to providing young children a foundation for educational excellence.
What makes Reading Friends different?
Curriculum:
The Phonics Advantage curriculum is a language-based preparatory program that is the heart of our proprietary curricula. It is a multi-sensory teaching technique involving the total child. Children receive structured academic experiences that produce a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, spelling and expression. The Reading Friends program is designed to provide successful opportunities for all students, regardless of their learning styles. Read More about our multi-faceted curriculums.
Social:
Children have daily outside playground time and a mid-morning snack where they experiment with social interaction and cooperation. Good manners and kindness are praised as teachers help the children learn social etiquette and the qualities of good leaders.
Hours:
Reading Friends believes children are best prepared for school when they are able to practice a real world school day; therefore, Reading Friends of Aledo creates an academic environment that mirrors the school environment in which they will transition to upon completion of our program. Reading Friends’ school year begins in September and runs through May. Activities start at 9:00 a.m. each day and end at noon with options for early arrival at 8:30am and extended Enrichment Classes until 2:00 p.m. Reading Friends of Aledo is a premier academic program that does not offer daycare and/or babysitting services.
Early Drop-off Options:
Reading Friends of Aledo values the feedback of our families. As a result of feedback submitted on one of our annual parent surveys, Reading Friends of Aledo now offers an early drop-off option for those who need to get a head-start on their day. For a nominal fee, parents may drop-off their children at 8:30am each morning. This option is available for our Primary, Pre-K, K-Prep, K-Bridge and Kindergarten students.
Teachers:
Reading Friends’ professional team of lead teachers must have a four-year degree from an accredited university and complete the initial and advanced Reading Friends Curriculum Certification. All teachers receive First Aid, CPR training, and background checks via the Department of Family & Protective Services and the FBI.
Student Ratio:
Reading Friends serves a finite amount of children and strives to maintain the nurturing intimacy that creates a solid foundation of self-confidence in the classroom. Our typical student to teacher ratio is 6:1 in our Developmental classes and 12:1 in our Primary, Pre-K, K-Prep I & II, K-Bridge, and Kindergarten classes.
Thank you for considering our unique program. We hope that you will allow us the opportunity to be a part of your child’s early educational needs.
